DESCRIZIONE DESCRIPTION
The present invention relates to a polishing-smoothing machine for slabs, tiles and the like.
In particular, but not exclusively, it is useful for smoothing marble slabs and ceramic tiles made of so-called porcelain stoneware.
It is known to perform the polishing of both marble slabs and porcelain stoneware tiles with sanding machines which use a plurality of wheels arranged in a line that operate on the slab or tile, first leveling the surface to be worked and then, with a series of passages under increasingly finer wheels, to produce their progressive polishing. In this way, perfectly shiny flat surfaces are obtained. A characteristic of this type of processing is the removal of a substantial thickness of material on the face to be machined from the slab or tile, which is necessary to generate a perfectly flat surface which is the only one that can be subjected to.
In particular, for pocellanato stoneware ceramic tiles, this type of polishing has the drawback of opening a microporosity (not found in the rough surface, that is, as it emerges from the firing) which makes the polished surface of the tile subject to being stainable by those soiled. able to penetrate into said microporosity. So much so that for the polished material a subsequent waterproofing treatment is usually necessary based on substances capable of impregnating the micropores opened by the polishing so as to make them impenetrable by dirt. The known technique of polishing also has the serious limitation of not being absolutely capable of polishing or smoothing, even if only partial, of non-regular surfaces, that is, not perfectly flat surfaces. In other words, slabs or tiles normally defined as "structured" cannot be treated, ie with their upper surface intentionally irregular (according to the known technique, in fact, polishing would necessarily require the total leveling of all the irregularities which instead constitute the essential characteristic of the "structured").
The present invention, as characterized by the claims, aims to provide a polishing-smoothing machine capable of carrying out a surface treatment that makes the surface of slabs or tiles brighter and smoother without distorting the original geometric shape.
Another object of the present invention is to perform a smoothing process characterized by the removal of a very small thickness of material.
A further object of the present invention is to be able to achieve different degrees of finish without in any case never leaving any machining marks on the machined surface.
An advantage of the present invention consists in its constructive, functional and operative simplicity.
Another advantage of the present invention is its ability to work indifferently and with constancy of results both produced with flat and regular surfaces and produced with surfaces characterized by irregular shapes.
Yet another advantage of the present invention consists in the fact that it can be used to obtain special effects (anti-catura) on particular products such as marble.
A further advantage of the invention consists in the fact that it is capable of carrying out a very economical polishing and smoothing operation.
Ulteriori caratteri st iche e vantaggi del presente ritrovato meglio appariranno dalla descrizione dettagliata che segue di alcune forme preferite, ma non esclusive, di realizzazione del trovato medesimo, illustrate a titolo puramente esemplificativo, ma non limitativo, negli allegati disegni in cui: Further characteristics and advantages of the present invention will appear better from the following detailed description of some preferred, but not exclusive, embodiments of the same invention, illustrated purely by way of non-limiting example, in the attached drawings in which:

Figure 4 shows a schematic front view of a second embodiment of the invention.
With reference to the aforementioned figures, 1 indicates as a whole a mobile support plane for ceramic slabs or tiles 2 along which the latter are translated according to the direction indicated by the arrow 5. The plane 1 is constituted, for example, by the branches 10 of a usual pair of belts for transporting caramic tiles, which are supported, in their sliding motion, by guides 11, in this case horizontal. In the first embodiment illustrated, above the plane 1 there is a rotating platform 3 which is commanded to rotate around an x-x axis perpendicular to the plane 1 and arranged on the longitudinal center line of the plane itself. The platform 3 is mounted on a driving head 6 which is in turn coupled, with the possibility of relative sliding in the vertical direction, on a vertical guide 7 fixed to a frame 8. A known device not illustrated in the attached figures maintains pushed downwards, therefore towards the plane 1 and therefore against the tiles present thereon, the driving head 6 with a predetermined and adjustable force.
The rotating platform 3, in the embodiment illustrated in Figures 1 and 2, has at the bottom a plurality of front rotating brushes 4 which are arranged so as to form a crown around the x-x axis of the platform itself.
With reference to the presence of a plurality of front rotating brushes supported on the rotating platform, it should be noted that the essential characteristics and the specific functionality of the invention are all perfectly verifiable in an embodiment which provides at least one front rotating brush obviously endowed with all those peculiarities of each of the said brushes 4 is provided with the said plurality.
The front rotating brushes 4 are mounted idle on the platform 3, i.e. with full freedom of rotation around their respective axes, which have the prerogative of being inclined with a predetermined inclination with respect to the direction normal to the plane 1. In particular the axis of rotation of each brush 4 is contained in a plane which also contains the x-x axis of rotation of the platform 3. The angle of which the rotation axis of each brush 4 is inclined with respect to the normal to the plane 1, therefore with respect to the x-x axis of platform 3, it is small. Preferably, this angle of inclination has an amplitude of about 1 sexagesimal degree.
The axes of rotation of the brushes 4 are arranged in such a way that the active front surfaces of the brushes are turned towards the axis of rotation x-x of the platform 3.
Each brush 4 is substantially constituted by a disk 40 on the face facing downwards of which threads 41 are fixed, arranged according to a circular crown. The latter can be of various materials. In particular, in this case for working porcelain stoneware, they have a composite structure since they are preferably made of a plastic material, acting as a binder, in which abrasive particles of predetermined grain size are incorporated.
During normal operation, the slabs or tiles 2 are moved on the surface 1 in the direction indicated by the arrow 5. Two lateral containment edges 9, located in correspondence with the operating area of the brushes 4, prevent lateral displacements of the slabs or tiles 2 in the course of the smoothing operation.
The brushes 4 come into contact with the upper surface of the slab or tile 2 with a predetermined pressure which is obtained with said known and not illustrated device which has the task of maintaining a downward thrust, therefore against the slabs or tiles 2 present on the plane 1, the entire driving head 6 with a predetermined and adjustable force.
Each brush 4 comes into contact with the upper surface of the slab or tile 2 with only an area of its own front surface due to the slight inclination of the axis of rotation of the brush with respect to the normal to the upper surface of the slab or tile 2. This geometric situation combining with the rotation around its x-x axis of the platform 3 it generates a tangential stress on the brush itself which produces its rotation.
Therefore when the brushes 4 are in contact with the slab or tile 2 they are automatically dragged in rotation around their respective axes.
As a result of the combination of movements that is generated, the ends of the wires 41 come into contact with the upper surface of the slab or tile 2 by crawling on it for short stretches in which, by the abrasives incorporated in the wires themselves, a mechanical smoothing action characterized by the removal of very small quantities of material. Overall, this action, on homogeneous materials, does not modify the original profile of the surface involved in the processing, in this specific case the entire upper surface of the slab or tile 2, but merely reduces the surface roughness making it smoother. This makes the use of the machine particularly advantageous for carrying out the polishing-smoothing of irregular surfaces, which are not perfectly flat, such as those of porcelain stoneware tiles defined as "structured".
Another fundamental characteristic expressed by the invention is to operate the 1uci datura-! isci ature without leaving any sign of processing, such as more or less accentuated scratches, on the machined surface regardless of the degree of finish achieved. This degree of finish essentially depends on the granulometry of the abrasive incorporated in the threads 41 which together form the individual brushes.
To obtain a predetermined degree of finish of the surface of a slab or tile, it is envisaged to subject the surface itself to a series of successive passages under machines such as the one described, arranged in a line, each of which is equipped with brushes 4 equipped with wires 41 made with abrasives of 1ometres and different grains. In this case, the processing should be organized by subjecting the slab or tile to the action of machines equipped with brushes with abrasives with progressively decreasing grain size or with abrasives of different nature.
Another embodiment of the invention provides for the use of a platform 3 'arranged with its axis of rotation x'-x' inclined with respect to the vertical to the plane 1. Also in this case the inclination is modest, preferably of about 1 degree.
The platform 3 'carries a plurality of brushes 4', which are structurally identical to the brushes 4 of the previous embodiment, but which have rotation axes parallel to the rotation axis x'-x 'of the platform 3'. These axes are therefore also inclined with respect to the normal plane 1. This geometric situation is the cause of the rotation that is induced on the brushes 4 ', in contact with the underlying slab or tile 2, due to the rotation to which the platform 3 '. the overall result achieved is similar to that obtained with the previous form of rejection.
Obviously, numerous modifications of a practical-applicative nature can be made to the constructive details without however departing from the scope of protection of the inventive idea as claimed below.
