Abstract
1376202 Valves BEHR-THOMSON DEHNSTOFFREGLER GmbH 7 March 1972 [10 March 1971] 10602/72 Heading F2V A pivotally mounted valve closure member 7, Fig. 1, is operated by an expansible element 15, such as a thermostat, and bears against a face 8 in which one or more apertures 4, 5 are provided, the element being mounted between an insert 13 screwed into the wall of the valve housing and a bearing 24 on a lever 10 carrying the closure member. The element 15 may be an hydraulic or pneumatic piston and cylinder or a thermostat acting against a diaphragm or piston loaded by a spring 17, an overrun spring 25 also being provided between a collar 22 and the bearing 24 which is connected by a universal joint to the lever 10. Fig. 2, shows an alternative embodiment in which a separately formed closure member 7 is secured by a bolt 37 to the lever 10 and may be adjusted by screws 38. An angularly displaceable indicator (not shown), pivoted on the axis of the lever 10 may be provided on the exterior of the housing which may be cast in a chill mould, the internal parts of the valve being of non-rusting material, such as red brass or brass and VZA steel. The valve may be used to mix fluids or to control the flow of coolant through a vehicle radiator.
