Abstract

1,224,241. Valves. WELLMAN INDUSTRIAL CONTROLS Ltd. 8 Jan., 1969 [11 Jan., 1968], No. 1569/68. Heading F2V. A fluid flow control valve has a closure member comprising an annulus of flexible material 40 clamped between a pair of surfaces of which one is non-planar whereby the annulus may be deformed to allow its outer periphery to be unsupported. In the preferred embodiment, annuli 40 of soft rubber are mounted between spacers 35, 36 and flanges 33, 34, 37 on a screwthreaded stem 30 sealed at each end to a liner 20 by a rolling diaphragm 43. With the valve in the position shown, an inlet 14 and an exhaust port 13 are connected to service ports 12 and 11, respectively, while movement of the valve to its second position by fluid pressure, solenoids or a lever mechanism connects the ports 12, 11 with an exhaust port 15 and the inlet 14, respectively.
