Abstract
1440572 Valves UNITED GAS INDUSTRIES Ltd 3 Sept 1973 [17 June 1972] 28481/72 Heading F2V A valve plate 15, which is movable between an open and a closed position, is mounted on a bellows 20 to effect additional sealing motion from the closed position towards the seat 18. As shown in a butterfly valve the bellows 20 joins the valve plate to a backing plate 14 carried by spindles 13, in one of which is formed a passage 22 communicating with an L- shaped passage 21 in the plate 14, passages 21, 22 connecting the interior of the bellows to a fluid-pressure source or exhaust (or vacuum). In an embodiment of gate valve, Fig. 2 (not shown), the bellows interconnects two plates which are sealingly movable relative a central annular member integral with the actuating shaft.
