Description
Descrizione del brevetto per invenzione industriale avente per titolo:
?FILTRO POLIANIONICO ANTIVIRALE?
La presente invenzione ha per oggetto filtri, in particolare per condizionatori, purificatori di aria o mascherine, costituiti da un supporto in fibra tessile sottoposto a trattamenti di anionizzazione.
I filtri dell?invenzione sono in grado di trattenere virus come il SARS-Cov2.
Stato della tecnica
I Coronavirus sono responsabili di diverse malattie respiratorie, dal comune raffreddore fino a gravi patologie quali la Sindrome respiratoria acuta grave (SARS). I Coronavirus, di forma rotondeggiante, hanno un diametro di circa 100 nanometri. La trasmissione da un individuo ad un altro avviene attraverso goccioline o droplets emesse durante la respirazione e, in modo pi? marcato, in seguito a tosse o starnuti. Le goccioline pi? fini (< a 5 micron) formano un aerosol che pu? essere disperso anche a distanze di diversi metri.
Nel corso della recente pandemia denominata Covid-19, provocata dal coronavirus SARS-Cov2, ? stato dimostrato il rischio di contagio in locali pubblici climatizzati dove le correnti d?aria emesse dai condizionatori sono risultate in grado di diffondere le goccioline infette fino a distanze ben maggiori di quelle raccomandate (1-2 metri ) per il cosiddetto distanziamento sociale ( Lu J, Gu J, Li K, et al, 2020. Emerging Infectious Diseases. 2020;26(7):1628-1631).
I filtri ad alta efficienza (HEPA) in grado di rimuovere efficacemente il 99,7% delle particelle fino alla grandezza di 0,3 micron sono utilizzati per lo pi? in impianti di condizionamento e purificazione di aria di laboratori, strutture sanitarie e in velivoli commerciali. Tali filtri sono per altro costosi e richiedono una manutenzione assidua e dispendiosa.
Esiste per tanto l?esigenza di sistemi filtranti adatti anche per impianti domestici o di piccola dimensione e per la produzione di mascherine protettive, che siano poco costosi, efficienti e in grado di trattenere selettivamente le particelle virali.
Descrizione dell?invenzione
Si ? ora trovato che ? possibile fornire una soluzione soddisfacente ai problemi sopra esposti trattando ad opportuni processi di anionizzazione fibre tessili di origine naturale o sintetica.
Si ipotizza che filtri costituiti da materiali recanti cariche negative sulla superficie siano in grado di legare le particelle virali, in particolare di coronavirus quali SARS-CoV2, mimando i recettori glicosaminoglicanici utilizzati dal virus per il legame sulla membrana cellulare (Brenna OV et al., Int J Immunopathol Pharmacol. 2020 Jan-Dec;34:2058738420966078). La validit? dell?invenzione non deve essere comunque intesa come legata all?effettiva verifica di tale ipotesi.
Per trattamento di anionizzazione si intende un qualsiasi trattamento chimico in grado di introdurre sulla fibra gruppi anionici quali gruppi carbossilici, solfonici o simili. Il trattamento pu? determinare una modifica di funzionalit? chimiche presenti nella struttura della fibra, ad esempio in seguito a processi di ossidazione o idrolisi oppure pu? comportare la reazione con opportuni composti contenenti funzionalit? anioniche.
L?invenzione ha pertanto per oggetto filtri per la disinfezione dell?aria costituiti da un supporto in fibra tessile sottoposto a trattamenti di anionizzazione.
Esempi di fibre tessili utilizzabili secondo l?invenzione comprendono cotone, lino, lana, nylon o seta.
Nel caso in cui la fibra tessile sia cotone o lino, il trattamento di anionizzazione pu? essere effettuato per ossidazione e per esempio con acqua ossigenata, ipoclorito di sodio, acido nitrico o acido peracetico. Si introducono in tal modo gruppi carbossilici (anionici a pH fisiologico) mediante ossidazione del gruppo alcolico C6 dell?unit? glucosio in quantit? sufficiente allo scopo e tale da non compromettere meccanicamente la struttura del tessuto.
Nel caso in cui la fibra tessile sia nylon, seta o lana, il trattamento di anionizzazione pu? essere effettuato per idrolisi parziale con HCl diluito e/o per reazione con una polianidride polimerica, ad esempio GANTREZ ? AN 119, con formazione di legami ammidici con i gruppi amminici liberi e formazione di gruppi carbossilici per idrolisi dell?anidride (Arecchi A et al., Anal Bioanal Chem. 2010 Dec;398(7-8):3097-103).
Nel caso di nylon, ? particolarmente indicato nylon poliammide a 2500 maglie grandi 125 ?m trattato per idrolisi con HCl diluito.
I filtri dell?invenzione possono essere agevolmente adattati ai sistemi di filtrazione e condizionamento di aria esistenti, utilizzati in ambienti civili (case, scuole, cinema, teatri, ristoranti), mezzi di trasporto, in ambienti a rischio come ospedali, case di cura e strutture sanitarie in genere. I filtri dell?invenzione possono essere installati ad esempio in corrispondenza delle bocche di uscita dell?aria o degli splitter di condizionatori commerciali.
Le fibre tessili sottoposte al trattamento di anionizzazione possono essere inoltre utilizzate per la fabbricazione di mascherine facciali protettive per uso personale.
I filtri dell?invenzione sono poco costosi, non richiedono particolare manutenzione, possono esser facilmente sostituiti e hanno dimostrato una elevata efficienza nella riduzione della carica virale negli ambienti chiusi, prevenendo cos? le infezioni virali ed in particolare da quelle indotte da SARS-Cov2.
I seguenti esempi illustrano l?invenzione in maggior dettaglio.
Esempio 1
Un campione di tessuto di cotone mercerizzato ? stato trattato all?ebollizione in una soluzione di ipoclorito di sodio al 4% per 30 minuti. Dopo lungo risciacquo con acqua deionizzata ed asciugatura, il tessuto ? pronto all?uso.
Per determinare il grado di sostituzione in gruppi carbossilici si pu? utilizzare un metodo colorimetrico, come per esempio la valutazione spettrofotometrica di una soluzione di blu di metilene residuo non assorbito.
Esempio 2
Un campione di tessuto trattato come nell?esempio 1 ? stato sistemato al posto di un comune filtro in un climatizzatore di un ambiente chiuso e messo in funzione dopo che un numero congruo di individui vi aveva soggiornato per 8 ore.
Il tessuto ? stato quindi rimosso con le dovute precauzioni e bagnato con una soluzione di PBS (tampone fosfato a pH 7 contenente NaCl 0,15 M). Un pezzo del filtro ? stato posto in una siringa e spremuto e nella soluzione risultante, raccolta in una provetta, ? stata cercata la presenza di materiale virale (Sars-Cov-2) mediante un test antigenico, test che evidenzia la presenza antigenica del virus.
Claims (9)
1. Filtri per la disinfezione dell?aria costituiti da un supporto in fibra tessile sottoposto a trattamenti di anionizzazione.
2. Filtri secondo la rivendicazione 1 in cui la fibra tessile ? cotone, lana, nylon o seta.
3. Filtri secondo la rivendicazione 2 in cui la fibra tessile ? cotone.
4. Filtri secondo la rivendicazione 3 in cui il trattamento di anionizzazione ? effettuato per ossidazione in soluzione di acqua ossigenata, ipoclorito di sodio, acido nitrico o acido peracetico.
5. Filtri secondo la rivendicazione 1 o 2 in cui la fibra tessile ? nylon, seta o lana.
6. Filtri secondo la rivendicazione 5 in cui il trattamento di anionizzazione ? effettuato per idrolisi parziale con HCl diluito e/o per reazione con polianidride polimerica.
7. Filtri secondo la rivendicazione 1, 2, 3 o 5 in cui il trattamento di anionizzazione ? effettuato per reazione con coloranti reattivi aventi gruppi solfonici.
8. Sistemi di filtrazione e condizionamento di aria comprendenti i filtri delle rivendicazioni 1-7.
9. Mascherine facciali protettive comprendenti i filtri delle rivendicazioni
