ARNIA COIBENTATA E METODO PER REALIZZARE UNA PARETE DI UN'ARNIA INSULATED HIVE AND METHOD FOR BUILDING A WALL OF A HIVE
DESCRIZIONE DESCRIPTION
The present invention relates to an insulated hive and a method for making a hive wall, and can be applied to any type of beekeeping hive.
As is known, today there are many different types of hives. Some types are mostly used in some countries, others in different countries.
In general, however, all hives include a lower box-like body that acts as a nest for bees, and a removable upper lid that normally contains the cable cover.
Between the lower box-like body and the lid an intermediate box-like body is inserted which acts as a super.
The lower box-like body comprises a side wall and a base wall, advantageously detachable, which define a containment chamber between them. In turn, the intermediate box-shaped body comprises only a side wall which can be directly coupled to the upper edge of the side wall of the lower box-shaped body, of which it constitutes an upward extension.
Both in the lower box-like body and in the intermediate one, special vertical frames are then installed that the bees use, respectively, for the formation of the nest and the accumulation of honey.
The cover has a protective function, is waterproof, and is made in such a way as to contain the cable cover (together with which it defines a sort of box of reduced height). In the center of the cable cover there is a hole whose function is linked to the nutrition of the bees (with nutrient or solid food). In the following of the present description and in the drawings, reference will be made to the most common type of hive in Italy, it being understood that what described can also be applied to hives of other types.
In Italy almost all beekeepers use the hive called Dadant Blatt which in turn includes two main families: the nomadic hive (or with a small portico) and the box hive (sedentary).
The main differences between the two types are in the external shape (the first with a protruding front porch, without the second).
In accordance with the established construction practice, the hives are almost entirely made of wood, mainly fir. Normally only the lid, the door cover and the connecting hardware are not made of wood. The thickness of the wooden walls is generally of the order of 25 mm.
Although this type of hives has been used for a long time, it is not without drawbacks, in particular as regards the thermal insulation which is relatively poor.
In this context, the technical task underlying the present invention is to develop an insulated hive and a method for making a hive wall, which remedy the aforementioned drawbacks.
The technical task and the indicated aims are substantially achieved by an insulated hive and by a method for making a wall of an hive, in accordance with what is described in the appended claims.
Ulteriori caratteristiche ed i vantaggi della presente invenzione appariranno maggiormente evidenti dalla descrizione dettagliata di alcune forme di esecuzione preferite, ma non esclusive, di un'arnia coibentata e del metodo per realizzare una parete di un'arnia, illustrate con riferimento agli uniti disegni, in cui: Further characteristics and advantages of the present invention will become more evident from the detailed description of some preferred, but not exclusive, embodiments of an insulated hive and of the method for making a wall of a hive, illustrated with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
- la figura 1 mostra in vista assonometrica, in esploso parziale, un'arnia box realizzata in accordo con la presente invenzione; - figure 1 is an axonometric view, in partial exploded view, of a box hive made in accordance with the present invention;
- la figura 2 mostra in vista assonometrica, in esploso parziale, un'arnia da nomadismo in accordo con la presente invenzione; - figure 2 is an axonometric view, in partial exploded view, of a nomadic hive in accordance with the present invention;
- la figura 3 mostra un corpo scatolare dell'arnia di figura 1, sezionato al centro secondo un piano di sezione verticale trasversale; e - figure 3 shows a box-shaped body of the hive of figure 1, sectioned at the center according to a plane of vertical transversal section; And
- figure 4 shows the hive of figure 2, sectioned in the center according to a longitudinal vertical section plane.
With reference to the aforementioned figures, the reference number 1 globally indicates an insulated hive made according to the present invention.
Similarly to traditional hives, also the one object of the present invention comprises at least a lower box-like body 2 and a lid 3.
The lower box-like body 2 has a base wall 4 and a side wall 5 which extends upwards from the base wall 4. The base wall 4 and the side wall 5 are preferably detachable from each other, and delimit a containment chamber 6 intended, in use, to accommodate suitable frames for nests (for this purpose, similarly to known hives, also the side wall 5 of the hive 1 object of the present invention can have vertical channels into which they can be inserted by sliding nest frames - solution not illustrated). Advantageously, the containment chamber 6 also has internal dimensions identical to the standard commercial dimensions for that type of hive 1 (if provided).
The lid 3 can be removably associated with the upper part of the lower box-like body 2, to close the containment chamber 6 at the upper edge of the side wall 5. Advantageously, similarly to the known lids, the one object of the present invention is also associated with a cable cover 7 equipped with a central hole 8 (figures 2 and 4). The lid 3 is also waterproof and weatherproof; it can be made either in the traditional way (wood covered with sheet metal) or by using one or more of the materials of the side wall 5 of the lower box-like body 2 that will be described below instead of wood.
In a per se known way, the lower box-like body 2 also has at least one opening 9 which puts the containment chamber 6 in communication with the outside in proximity to the base wall 4, to allow, in use (i.e. when the lid 3 is associated with the lower box-like body 2), the passage of bees from the outside to the containment chamber 6, and vice versa. In the preferred embodiment, the opening 9 is a horizontal slot.
According to the embodiments, the hive 1 can also comprise an annular body (not shown), which is interposed or interposable between the lower box-like body 2 and the lid 3 to delimit an extension of the containment chamber 6; the annular body is intended to act as a super and to contain special frames for the super. The annular body can be made in different ways, but, preferably, it consists of an annular wall which has a structure similar to that of the side wall 5 of the lower box-shaped body 2, described below, and of which it constitutes an extension towards the 'tall. The annular body can also find a plurality of supers frames (for this purpose, similarly to the side wall 5 of the lower box body 2, the annular wall can also have vertical channels in which the frames for the supers can be inserted by sliding - solution not illustrated).
The structure of the side wall 5 of the lower box-like body 2 constitutes the innovative aspect of the present invention. It should be noted that although the accompanying figures show embodiments in which only the side wall 5 has a structure in accordance with the present invention, in other embodiments it is also possible to produce other parts of the hive 1 with the same structure, such as the cover 3 and / or the base wall 4. In the simplest embodiment of the present invention, the side wall 5 comprises at least a first rigid layer 10, of a first material, and at least one insulating layer 11 based on lime and hemp, associated with the first rigid layer 10. Advantageously, the first rigid layer 10 faces directly onto the containment chamber 6, while the insulating layer 11 is applied externally to the first rigid layer 10 with respect to the containment chamber 6.
In a preferred embodiment, however, the side wall 5 further comprises a second rigid layer 12, made of a second material. In this embodiment, the insulating layer 11 is sandwiched between the first rigid layer 10 and the second rigid layer 12.
Although the adhesion between the first rigid layer 10 and the insulating layer 11, and between the second rigid layer 12 and the insulating layer 11, can be obtained in different ways, in the preferred embodiment the side wall 5 also comprises a plurality of elements rigid connection bars 13 (such as wood cores and screws) mounted between the first rigid layer 10 and the second rigid layer 12, in such a way that the first rigid layer 10, the second rigid layer 12 and the plurality of rigid connecting elements 13 constitute a rigid self-supporting structure, and the first rigid layer 10 and the second rigid layer 12 identify between them a compartment 14. Inside the compartment 14 there is the insulating layer 11 which is advantageously obtained by drying a wet mixture of lime and hemp previously poured into compartment 14.
Advantageously, the side wall 5 also comprises an external covering layer 15 (not visible in the accompanying figures as it is too thin), which is constituted by a transpiring plaster and is applied to the outside of the second rigid layer 12 or of the insulating layer 11 ( if the second layer is not present).
In the preferred embodiment, in consideration of the fact that the insulating layer 11 based on lime and hemp is a breathable layer, both the first material and the second material (if present) consist of one or more magnesite-based panels (material comprising magnesium oxide and magnesium chloride), possibly protected on the surface by one or more reinforcing nets (for example in glass fiber).
Advantageously, moreover, both the first rigid layer 10 and the second rigid layer 12 have a thickness of between 0.5 and 2 cm, preferably of about 1 cm.
In general, however, the thicknesses of the first rigid layer 10, of the second rigid layer 12 (if present) and of the insulating layer 11 are chosen in such a way as to guarantee to the side wall 5 a thermal transmittance lower than 1.5 W / m <2> K , preferably less than 1 W / m <2> K. With thicknesses of the first rigid layer 10 and of the second rigid layer 12 of about 1 cm, this result can generally be obtained with an insulating layer 11 with a thickness of between 5 and 8 cm.
Similarly to known hives, finally, also a hive 1 made in accordance with the present invention can be equipped with lifting handles, a front door, etc ...
As said, the present invention also relates to a method for making a wall of a hive 1, which allows to obtain a wall such as the side wall 5 described above with reference to the preferred embodiment and illustrated in the accompanying figures. In consideration of this, what has already been described with reference to hive 1, must also be understood as valid for what is described below with reference to the method, and vice versa.
The method first of all comprises the operating steps of creating a first rigid layer 10 using the first material, and of creating a second rigid layer 12 using a second material, and of arranging the first rigid layer 10 and the second rigid layer 12 facing each other and in so that they delimit a space between them 14.
The method also foresees to constrain the first rigid layer 10 and the second rigid layer 12 to each other, for example by means of the rigid connection elements 13, to create a rigid self-supporting structure, as well as to plug any open sides of the compartment 14 in order to subsequently use it. as a container for a wet dough; this infill can be made both with parts intended to be definitively part of the side wall 5, such as wooden cores or pieces of the first or second material, and with parts to be removed once the wall has been completed.
Once the compartment 14 is able to act as a container, the method provides for filling the compartment 14 itself with a moist mixture based on lime and hemp.
Nella forma realizzativa preferita, in percentuale in peso rispetto al peso complessivo, l'impasto contiene almeno: In the preferred embodiment, in percentage by weight with respect to the total weight, the dough contains at least:
- dal 20% al 30% di canapa, in forma di canapulo standard con lunghezza della fibra compresa tra 5 e 20 mm; - from 20% to 30% of hemp, in the form of standard hemp with fiber length between 5 and 20 mm;
- dal 25% al 35% di calce idrata; - from 25% to 35% of hydrated lime;
- dal 35% al 48% di acqua. - from 35% to 48% of water.
It is however possible to add one or more excipients to the mixture to facilitate subsequent drying.
Subsequently, the method provides for leaving, or allowing to dry, the wet mixture to obtain a solid insulating layer 11, based on lime and hemp, which is positioned between the first rigid layer 10 and the second rigid layer 12 and in contact with they. Advantageously, if the method provides for allowing the mixture to dry, it is envisaged to leave the wall in a protected but ventilated place and at room temperature until it is completely dry (ie for a relatively long time). If, on the other hand, the method provides for the mixture to dry, this can be achieved with special drying systems that can bring the wall to a relatively high temperature so that the result can be obtained in a shorter time.
Finally, the method provides for applying a transpiring protective plaster on the second rigid layer 12, that is to say on the rigid layer which is intended to be positioned on the external part of the hive 1 (unlike the first rigid layer 10 which is instead intended to be positioned in correspondence of the containment chamber 6).
La presente invenzione consegue importanti vantaggi. The present invention achieves important advantages.
Thanks to the present invention, in fact, it has been possible to develop a hive that has a decidedly better thermal insulation, even 60%, compared to traditional fir wood hives (which generally have a transmittance equal to about 2.4 W / m <2> K).
Furthermore, in the preferred embodiments this result has been obtained by using "natural" materials, by which we mean not derivatives of petroleum. Furthermore, in the preferred embodiment in which chalk is used for the first and second layer, it has been possible to develop hives with a better transpiration capacity than that of traditional hives. Finally, it should be noted that the present invention is relatively easy to produce and that the cost associated with its implementation is also not very high.
The invention thus conceived is susceptible of numerous modifications and variations, all falling within the scope of the inventive concept that characterizes it.
