Abstract

The layout comprises a movable reheating bell 16, suspended from an immovable framework 12, which makes it possible to lower said bell into an operating position in contact with the top layer 11 of the wastes contained in the pit 10. The reheating bell has at least one high- temperature heat source 17 able to bring about pyrolysis in situ of the wastes at individual zones of the pit and at least one collector 18 to gather the gaseous products of the thermal transformation. The thermal energy of said gaseous products is transformed into electrical energy partially utilised to activate said heat source 17, which consists of one or more plasma torches fed with inert gas, oxygen, and/or gas recovered from the thermal transformation of the wastes themselves. <IMAGE>
