Abstract

The current transducer has a magnetic circuit (1) coupled to the primary conductor (3) carrying the current to be measured, with a measuring coil (4) enclosing an air-gap (2) in the magnetic circuit (1). The measuring coil (4) is supplied with a measuring measuring current providing a compensation flux for the flux induced by the current in the primary conductor (3), with a Hall detector positioned in the air-gap (2) for monitoring the magnetic field compensation. A high permeability magnetic yoke (6) fits inside the measuring coil (4) to form a magnetic shunt across the arms (7,8) of the magnetic circuit (1) lying either side of the air-gap (2), for improving the measuring accuracy.
