Abstract
939,590. Measuring displacement electrically. AIRPAX ELECTRONICS Inc. May 3, 1962 [May 4, 1961], No. 17108/62. Class 40 (1). [Also in Group XXXIX] Apparatus for measuring a linear displacement comprises a permanent magnet core 15 (Figs. 1, 5) located coaxially inside two tapewound toroidal cores 10, 11 having individual A.C.-energized primary windings 12, 13 which saturate the cores, and a common secondary winding 14 having an induced voltage which is zero when the armature 15 is symmetrically located with respect to cores 10, 11, but when core 15 is displaced a second harmonic voltage is produced in winding 14 indicative of the magnitude and direction of the displacement. This voltage is rectified by a bridge 21-24, and the D.C. voltage may be used to energize a feed-back coil 30 wound round both cores 10, 11.
