Abstract
Compsns. for use in mechanical power transmission units (esp. traction drives) comprise a minor amt. of an antioxidant in admixt. with a 19-30C hydrocarbon oil which is a mixt. of cpds. of formula (I) (where R1 and R2 are 1-3C alkylene; R3-R5 are 1-4C alkyl; p, m and n are 0-3; x=0 or 1; rings A and B are hydrogenated benzene rings with a degree of saturation of at least 80% but less than 100%; ring C is as defined for A and B when x=1, or can also be a cyclohexane ring when x=0). The compsns. have high traction coeffts. (e.g. 0.09-0.094), good antioxidant and anticorrosion properties, and are easily produced from inexpensive raw materials.
