Abstract
A liq. contg. super saturated silica is mixed with silica seed. The resulting liq. in which the total content of silica is 0.05-5% is held at pH 6-10 and above 40 deg.C, to accelerate crystallisation of dissolved silica. The silica prod. is sepd. using an ultrafiltration membrane. The silica seed may be liq. alkali silicate or liq. prepd. by dealkalinating liq. alkali silicate with neutral or ion-exchange resin.
