Abstract

Braking system for free wheeling bobbins dispensing threads for weaving uses brake pads applied to a disc mounted coaxially on the bobbin where the force applied to the brake is pneumatically controlled. Applicable to bobbins carrying either individual threads or a series of threads on a common core, esp. where the bobbins are themselves mounted on a rotary plate. Allows a steady braking force to be applied, at variable levels, regardless of inertia variations depending on changes in the residual mass of thread on the spinning discharging bobbin(s).
