Abstract
1447188 Cartridge operated impelling tools HILTI AG 16 Jan 1974 [2 Feb 1973] 01824/74 Heading B4C [Also in Division F3] A disposable explosive-charge magazine comprises a magazine body of sheet or strip form 1 in which are one or more cells 2, the or each cell being surrounded by an annular rim 3 and containing a caseless explosive charge 5, a portion of the latter being provided which, in use, allows detonation of the charge by mechanical impact. The rim 3 may be made from a material which is different than the material of the strip or sheet 1 and may be tapered externally so as to be received by a breech end of a barrel (not shown). The charge 5 includes a propellant and a primer and does not stand proud of the annular rim 3. An aperture 4 is provided to allow a firing pin (not shown) to detonate the charge 5. In other embodiments each cell 2, Fig. 3, has an ignition abutment 8; passages 9, Fig. 4, are formed in the charge 5; the charge is shaped so as to provide recesses 10, Fig. 7; channels 11, Fig. 8 are included; each cell and each charge may be tapered, and projections 12, Fig. 12, and a protrusion 13 are provided; the latter serving as a substitute for the firing pin (not shown).
