Claims (9)

-A WHAT I CLAIM ISs
1. A pattern composition for producing investment casting molds comprising a mixture of at least one wax together with a polyhydric alcohol in an amount of from 5 to 50o by weight of the entire mixture, said polyhydric alcohol having a melting point above the melting point of the wax*
2. The pattern composition of claim 1 which also includes a fatty acid containing at least 12 carbon atoms*
3. The pattern composition of claim 1 in which said polyhydric alcohol is pentaerythritol.
4. The pattern composition of claim 2 in which the fatty acid constitutes from 1 to 25$ by weight of the entire mixture.
5. The pattern composition of claim 2 in which said fatty acid contains from 12 to 22 carbon atoms per molecule.
6. A pattern composition for producing investment casting molds comprising a mixture of waxes constituting at least 40$ by weight of the composition, stearic adid in an amount of from 1 to 25?° by weight of the composition, and pentaerythritol in an amount of from 5 to 50% by weight of said mixture.
7. In the method of forming an investment casting mold in which a shell is built up on a pattern by successive applicaiions of layers of refractory particles, the pattern is removed, and the shell is fired at an elevated temperature, the improvement which comprises forming the pattern from a mixture comprising at least one wax and from 5 to 5 by weight of a polyhydric alcohol having a melting point above the melting point of the wax.
8. The method of claim 7 in which said polyhydric alcohol is pentaerythritol.
9. The method of claim 7 in which said mixture also includes a fatty acid. For and on behalf
