Abstract
This bracket is of the type comprising a plate (3) intended to be fixed against a wall or a pole and exhibiting a rear bearing face (5) which is substantially plane, at least one central hole (7) and, on its front face, on the one hand, a track for a fixing strap to pass along and, on the other hand, an arm (9) substantially perpendicular to its bearing face (5), which arm is integral, by one of its ends, with the plate (3) and the other end, or free end, of which is shaped as a ring (11) forming an eye (11'), and in which the mid-plane (12) of the ring (11) forming the eye (11') is coincident with the vertical mid-plane of the arm (9). A second ring (17) is provided which forms an eye (17') whoe mid-plane (18) is perpendicular to that (12) of the first ring (11) forming the eye (11').
Description
The present invention relates to a suspensionmember or securing-member support bracket for an overhead power or telephone line.
The brackets used currently comprise, in general, a plate intended to be fixed against a wall, or against a wooden, cement or metal pole, of circular or polygonal cross-section, this plate exhibiting a rear bearing face which is substantially plane or slightly concave cylindrical, at least one central hole for a fixing-bolt to pass through and, on its front face, on the one hand, at least one track for a fixing strap or strip to pass along and, on the other hand, an arm substantially perpendicular to its bearing face, which arm is integral, by one of its ends, with the plate and the other end, or free end, of which is shaped as a ring forming an eye for the engagement of a hook, or the like, integral with the member intended to be suspended from this bracket.
When such a bracket is intended to support a suspension member, such as a suspension clamp for a power or telephone line, or else a paying-out and tensioning pulley for a power or telephone line, that is to say when it must withstand vertical or substantially vertical forces, the end ring forming an eye is arranged in such a way that its mid-plane is coincident with the vertical mid-plane of the arm.
In contrast, when this bracket is intended to support an anchoring or securing claaqp for a power or telephone line, that is to say when it must withstand only horizontal or substantially horizontal forces, the end ring forming an eye is arranged in such a way that its mid-plane is horizontal.
These arrangements aim to prevent the arm of the bracket being subjected to torsional moments. This thus results in installers having to possess two sets of different brackets in order to be able to satisfy all the conditions of current installations.
The present invention aims to overcome these drawbacks. For this purpose, in the bracket to which this invention relates and which is of the aforementioned type
Including, at the free end of an arm forming the support arm, a ring forming an eye whose mid-plane is coincident with the vertical mid-plane of the arm, a second ring ie provided which forms an eye whose mid-plane is perpendicular to that of the first ring forming an eye.
Thus, this same bracket is capable of supporting both suspension members and securing members for a power or telephone line.
Furthermore, in the case where it is used for supporting, by means of its second ring, securing members for a power or telephone line, its first, vertical ring may be used for the suspension of a pulley for paying out and for tensioning this line.
According to a simple embodiment of the invention, the mid-plane of the second ring forming an eye is also parallel to the plane of the bearing face of the plate.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the two rings forming eyes are superposed, and the ring parallel to the bearing face of the plate is arranged coaxially or substantially coaxially with the bole provided, in the latter, for a fixing bolt possibly to pass through.
In any event, the invention will be well understood with the aid of the following description, with reference to the appended diagrammatic drawing depicting, by way of non-limiting example, an embodiment of this bracket:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of it;
Figure 2 is a plan view from above of a pole supporting two brackets according to Figure 1.
As shown in Figure 1, this bracket 2 is of the type comprising a plate 3 intended to be fixed against a wall or against a wooden, cement or metal pole 4 of round or polygonal cross-section.
This plate 3, of rectangular general shape, exhibits a slightly concave cylindrical rear bearing face 5 whose inwardly curved edges constitute the small transverse sides 5a of the rectangular bearing face of the plate 3. The longitudinal edges 5b of this rear bearing face 5 are advantageously provided, as shown in the drawing, with projections 6 which improve its anchoring against a pole 4 or a wall.
Passing right through this plate 5 [sic] is a hole 7 intended for a fixing bolt to possibly pass through, especially when it has to be fixed to a wall or to a wooden or cement pole 4.
When this bracket 2 has to be fixed to a pole, whatever the nature of the latter, this fixing may also be provided by one or two strips 10 going around both the plate 5 [sic] and the pole 4, as illustrated in Figure 2.
From its front face 8, that is to say its face opposite its rear bearing face 5, the plate 3 carries an arm 9 forming a support arm oriented normal to its rear bearing face 5. At its free end, the arm 9 is shaped as a ring 11 forming an eye arranged so that its mid-plane 12 is coincident with the vertical mid-plane of the arm 9 and intersects the front face 8 of the plate 3 in the mid-line 13 of the latter.
This ring 11 forming an eye 11' serves, as is the case in the previously known brackets equipped with such an eye, either for the terminal anchoring of the power or telephone line or for suspending a pulley for paying out a power or telephone line, or else for installing a stay for holding in place the pole 4 supporting this bracket.
This triple function of the ring 11 forming an eye 11' is illustrated, respectively, by the arrows 14, 15 and 16 in Figure 1.
The bracket 2 according to the invention exhibits, in addition to the ring 11 forming the eye 11', a second ring 17 forming a second eye 17' whose mid-plane 18 is oriented perpendicular to the mid-plane 12 of the first ring 11 forming the first eye 11'.
In the example illustrated in the drawing, the mid-plane 18 of the second ring 17 forming the second eye 17' is, furthermore, parallel to the rear bearing surface 5 of the plate 3.
The presence of this second ring 17 forming the second eye 17' provides this bracket 2 with novel functions, that is to say enables it to be used either for double anchoring, as illustrated by the arrows 19 and 21 or, of course, for a single anchoring, as illustrated by the arrow 19 or 21.
It should be noted that the use of the second ring 17 forming the second eye 17', as single or double anchoring, does not prevent the aforementioned functions of the first ring 11 forming the first eye 11'.
Consequently, by virtue of this bracket 2, installers no longer have to possess, in their stock, two sets of different brackets since the same bracket 2 enables all the functions required of such a product to be fulfilled.
Of course, this bracket may be made from any suitable material. However, it is advantageously made of a mouldable or injectable material such as a synthetic resin or a metal alloy.
