Abstract

In a system for offshore waste gas disposal, a platform structure and a remote buoyant flare are interconnected by a flexible gasconveying conduit, which hangs as a catenary in the water below wave and navigation depth but within reach of ordinary diving operations for maintenance. The flexible conduit also serves as a load-carrying structural member acting in conjunction with an anchor chain or cable to hold the flare buoy in position. [CA1057186A]
