1536163 Jointing arrangement for coaxial cables STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd 8 April 1976 14329/76 Heading H2E An arrangement for jointing a plurality of coaxial cables, e.g. 9, 10 (Fig. 2) comprises a set of metallic half shells 1 (Fig. 1a), reinforcing tubes 14, 15 inserted under the outer conductors 16, 17 of cables 9, 10 and outer crimping sleeves 22, 23. The joint is produced by stripping and bending the inner conductors 11, 12 of cables 9, 10 and connecting them by crimping sleeve 13 (Fig. 2). Reinforcing tubes 14, 15, made of steel are inserted between the outer conductors 16, 17 and the hollow insulating tubes 18, 19 and an insulating support having ends 20b, 21b is fitted to the joined bared conductors. Two half-shells 1 are used to enclose the above assembly and the shells are held together by lugs 6a, 7a, 8a, 6b, 7b, 8b, 8b on the shells. Sleeves 22, 23 are crimped in positions 22a, 23a. Paper tape 24, 25 may be used to secure the tapes surrounding the cables and an insulation, e.g. a sleeve or tape may be applied to the exposed metallic parts. In a modification (Fig. 4, not shown) three cables are connected in a Y-shaped joint and in another modification (Fig. 5, not shown) three cables are connected in a T-shaped joint. [GB1536163A]
