Abstract

6-Aryl-4H-s-triazolo[3,4-c]thieno[2,3-e]-1,4-diazepines of the formula VII are prepared from compounds of the formula V. This entails using a strong hydrohalic acid to split open the bond on the oxygen atom of the oxepine ring. The resulting hydrohalide is extracted with a solvent which is immiscible with water, and the residue is reacted with a phosphorous or sulphur halide. The resulting dihalo compound is reacted with ammonia or a substance which provides ammonia, and the resulting product is dehydrogenated. The substituents in the formula VII and V have the meaning stated in Claim 1. The compounds of the formula VII and their acid addition salts have proved to have anxiolytic, antispasmodic and muscle-relaxant activity. In addition, they display a potent anticonvulsant action and extremely low toxicity. They furthermore increase the feed intake of mammals. <IMAGE> [FR2318165A1]
