1456964 1-Aryl-uracils BAYER AG 25 March 1975 [26 March 1974 3 May 1974 30 Nov 1974] 12411/75 Heading C2C The invention comprises novel compounds (I) wherein Ar represents optionally substituted aryl, R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> can be identical or different and represent hydrogen, alkyl, halogen, alkoxy, nitro, acylamino, nitrile, alkoxycarbonyl, trifluoromethyl or the radicals wherein R<SP>8</SP> and B<SP>9</SP> can be identical or different and represent hydrogen, alkyl or alkenyl, or wherein R<SP>8</SP> and R<SP>9</SP> together with the nitrogen atom can form a heterocyclic ring which optionally contains further hetero-atoms and, R<SP>5</SP>, R<SP>6</SP> and R<SP>7</SP> can be identical or different and represent hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl or cyano and X represents oxygen, sulphur, SO or SO 2 or a salt thereof. They are made by reacting compounds (II) (obtained from the corresponding nitro compounds) with (R<SP>10</SP> is alkyl) and cyclizing the compounds (IV) obtained, or by reacting (II) with (R<SP>11</SP> and R<SP>12</SP> are alkyl) and heating the compounds (VII) obtained to give the nitriles (VIII) which are hydrolysed to give (I) via compounds (IX). Pharmaceutical preparations active against coccidiosis contain (I) as active ingredient. Administration may be orally, parenterally or topically. [GB1456964A]
