Abstract

1478692 Laminates BPB INDUSTRIES Ltd 14 March 1975 [2 May 1974] 19421/74 Heading B5N A rigid insulation material is faced on one or each face with a facing material consisting of a layer of iron foil which has been coated to render the foil corrosion resistant. The foil may have a thickness of 0À001 to 0À10 inch may have been manufactured by an electrodeposition process and may be coated with metal or a plastics material, e.g. an acrylic resin or a polyester. In a preferred embodiment, the foil has a reinforcing material, e.g. a scrim, mesh, fabric or film of hessian, cotton, glass, nylon, polyethylene, polypropylene or polyethylene terephthalate bonded to one or each face thereof. The rigid insulation material may be of polystyrene, fibre board, straw board, plywood, chip board or phenolic foam board. In one application, a layer of iron foil which has been electro-galvanized and coated with an acrylic film is applied as a facing to each face of expanded urethane foam during the board forming process.
