Abstract

1461033 Adjustable feet; furniture feet; ornamenting furniture H TEISSEIRE 15 Jan 1975 [15 Jan 1974] 1758/75 Headings A4H and A4U A method of mounting an elongate and generally horizontally extending plinth 1 under a piece of furniture 8, whose undersurface 7 is capable of deflecting downwards under load, comprises attaching intermediate floor-engaging supports 6 of adjustable height to a rear face of the plinth at intermediate positions along the length thereof, the supports 6 being initially of smaller height than the height above the floor of the under-surface which is supported on floor-engaging end feet (10), placing the plinth under the piece of furniture from the front thereof, attaching the plinth to front faces of the end feet, and then adjusting the supports 6 in height to engage the undersurface 7 to prevent or reduce subsequent downward deflection thereof. The supports 6 and end feet (10) are attached to the plinth 1 by elastic studs 3, (9) which snap fit in rear longitudinal grooves 2 in the plinth, the studs 3 being integrally moulded with supports 6 and the studs (9) being integral with collars (12) which snap fit on end feet (10). Supports 6 have threaded ferrules 5 which are turned by a tool inserted in a space 13 between the undersurface 7 and the plinth 1. [GB1461033A]
