Abstract

1417146 Peristaltic pumps RANK ORGANISATION Ltd 17 Aug 1973 [9 Aug 1972] 37078/72 Heading FIF In peristaltic pump comprising several tubes 28 arranged side-by-side in parallel planes, each tube 28 is squeezed against an individual resiliently yieldable grooved reaction surface 38 by an individual set of movable rollers 34. The movable rollers of each set are, as shown, rotatably mounted between the side surfaces of a groove 32 in a respective bush 30 mounted on a common shaft 20, or on a respective endless belt (102), Fig. 5 (not shown). Each reaction surface 34 is formed on a block 36 urged towards its tube 28 by a compression spring 40 and slidably supported by pins 40 carried by a frame pivotable about a pin 46 to provide access to the tubes. The tension of the spring 40 is adjustable by a plug 44 screwed into the frame. In a further embodiment each reaction surface is formed by an endless belt (112) Fig 6 (not shown) which passes round a fixed pulley and a pivotable pulley loaded by a compression or leafspring. The reaction surface is grooved to conespond to the cross-section of the associated tube and is of a compressible material. The rollers 34 are preferably made of tungsten. [GB1417146A]
