Abstract

1433417 Antibiotic A-2315 ELI LILLY & CO 30 July 1973 [31 July 1972] 36111/73 Headings C2A and C2C The new antibiotic "A-2315" having the possible structural formula is prepared by aerobic cultivation of the organism Actinoplanes philippinensis NRRL 5462 (nov. spec.). It may be separated from the fermentation medium by conventional procedures, e.g. extraction with chloroform and purification by chromatography on silica gel. The antibiotic is stated to have antibacterial activity, in particular against gram-positive streptococci, especially those responsible for periodontal disease. It also has animal growth promoting activity and may be used to combat plant fungal infections as well as a general disinfectant. [GB1433417A]
