Abstract

1395502 Thixotropic, herbicidal composition IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES LTD 26 June 1972 [22 July 1971 21 Jan 1972] 34451/71 and 3010/72 Heading A5E A concentrated thixotropic herbicidal composition comprises an aqueous solution of a salt of a herbicidal bipyridylium quaternary cation containing a gel-forming amount of a gelling agent, the aqueous solution having a pH not greater than 9 and the concentration of the herbicidal bipyridylium quaternary cation being at least 10 % by wt of the composition. Specified gelling agents are polysaccharides, cellulose derivatives, silica, china clay and alumina, in particular xanthan gum together with a borate salt. A surfactant also may be included and silica or alumina may also be added as dispersion/dissolution agent. Accidental ingestion of such a composition is unlikely. [GB1395502A]
