Abstract

1356062 Moulding tyres DUNLOP HOLDINGS Ltd 1 June 1971 [1 June 1970] 18602/71 Heading B5A A tyre mould comprises adjustably spaced mould plates 12, 13 with heating channels 11 between which radially movable tread forming mould segments 14 with heating channels 15 are located. Frusto-conical surfaces on the segments engage corresponding surfaces on a depending member 17 to urge the segments radially inwardly when the mould is closed. The segment heating channels are supplied with heating medium e.g. hot water or steam via flexible hose lines 16 which may be arranged as spirals between adjacent segments. The lower edge of the member 17 may sealingly clamp against the plate 13 providing a sealed mould chamber which may be evacuated and to which a heating medium may be fed. Upstanding spacers between adjacent segments prevent their being clamped between the mould plates. [GB1356062A]
