Abstract

1367075 Foam generation WILKINSON SWORD Ltd 6 July 1971 [18 July 1970] 34944/70 Heading BiC [Also in Divisions A5 C4 and Fl] A foam containing hypochlorite ions is created by dispensing from a pressurised container a soap solution and a source of hypochlorite ions held in separate compartments in the container, the contents of which are mixed as they are dispensed upon operation of a valve in the proportions of 3 to 10 volumes of soap solution to 1 volume of the hypochlorite ion source. The soap solution contains stearic acid with lauric acid and/or myristic acid and potassium and/or lithium hydroxide. In addition the solution may contain sodium and/or lithium lauryl sulphate, sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, and a long chain tertiary amine-N-oxide to improve the foam. An aqueous solution of lithium hypochlorite which may also contain potassium and/or lithium chloride and hydroxide may be used as the hypochlorite ion source. Alternatives include other alkali metal hypochlorites, non-metallic inorganic acids such as N-chlorosulphamic acid, and organic compounds which yield hypochlorite ions with water such as chlorimides N-chloro sulphonamides, and chlorinated hydantoins &c. The foam is used for treating burns, lesions, gangrene &c. [GB1367075A]
