Abstract

1,252,005. Moulding plastic substances. TEMPLETHENE Ltd. 10 Feb., 1969 [23 Feb., 1968], No. 8800/68. Heading B5A. [Also in Division C3] A method of forming a shaped article comprises shredding plastics-coated paper waste, forming the resulting particulate material into a layer on a moving conveyer, heating the layer to plasticize the material and pressing the plasticized material to form it into a coherent sheet. Shredded particles of paper coated with a polyethylene film are fed from a hopper 1 and via a screen 3 to an endless conveyer 4, and the particulate layer is heated by heaters 6, 7, compressed by rollers 8, 9 and received on a roll 11. Dielectric heaters may be used. A sheet of paper or plastics material may be provided on one or both sides of the particulate layer and is bonded thereto by the heating and pressing steps. A number of hoppers with associated screens, heaters and nip rollers may be located along the conveyer whereby a thicker web of sheet material can be obtained. [GB1252005A]
