Abstract

1,204,856. Stacking pallets; pallet stacking frames. PALLETOWER Ltd. 23 Oct., 1967 [30 Dec., 1966], No. 58251/66. Headings B8C and B8H. In a method of stacking pallets, a collapsible upright frame is mounted on or around a first pallet, thereby effectively extending the sides of the pallet upwardly, and a second pallet is placed on top of the frame. The frame described is in four sections 10, 11, corresponding to the sides and ends of the pallet 13, and fitting slidably together at the upright corners. Each section has a strut 12 for strengthening. Top plates 14 and angles 15 provide a support for a second pallet 16, and another frame may be placed on top to allow further stacking. The end post 17 of each side section 10 is of hollow section, Fig. 2, and has a slot 18 to accommodate a flange 19 on post 20 of the end section 11. The flange 19 is cut away at the top so that the plates 14 and angles 15 can lie flush. The flange is also cut away at the bottom, and the end of the post 20 may either extend to the ground to take the weight of the frame and of higher pallets, or the cross-bar 22 of section 11 may rest on the pallet, in which case the load is on the pallet 13. The frame is erected by first placing the end sections 11 in position and then sliding the side sections 10 into engagement with the sections 11 from above.
