Abstract

999,890. Hydraulic apparatus. FAIREY ENGINEERING Ltd. Feb. 28, 1964 [Nov. 30, 1962], No. 41071/62. Heading F1P. [Also in Division F2] Hydraulic fluid control apparatus comprises a plurality of inlets A, B, C, Fig. 3, each connected to similar or differing pressure supplies, a plurality of outlets X, Y, Z each connected to operate hydraulically actuated apparatus, e.g. double-acting jacks under test and at least one outlet R connected to exhaust, and the outlets X, Y, Z are relatively connected to the inlets A, B, C and/or exhaust R by interchangeable key means. As shown the connections for A, B, C and R are formed in the rear face of a valve block 130, Fig. 11, at 161A, 162B, 163C, 164R and those for outlets X, Y, Z are at 167X, 168Y, 169Z. The inlets lead to poppet valves 1A, 2A, 3A, 7B, 8B, 9B and 10C, 11C, 12C all spring-biased to the closed position and the exhaust line 164R is connected to poppet valves 4R, 5R, 6R spring-biased to the open position. The twelve valves are arranged in two columns of six in the block 130 and operation of the selected valves is effected by a lever 131, Fig. 4, controlling twelve spring-loaded plungers, 11A, 12A, 13A, 14R, 15R, 16R, 17B, 18B, 19B and 20C, 21C, 22C, Fig. 5, which are respectively associated with the twelve valves 1A to 12C and which operate in accordance with a pattern of apertures 140, Fig. 8, in a key plate 132 which is slid between the valve block 130 and a plunger block 133 bolted thereto. The twelve plungers 11A to 22C are yoked totogether at their outer ends by a bar 170 freely slidable thereon and having pivoted thereto at 176 a pair of toggle struts 175 carrying rollers 178 adapted to bear on block 133 and on depressing lever 131 forces the selected plungers against the valves desired to be operated. The key plate 132 is locked in position by a strip 190 from which projects a pin 196 engaging a recess 195. In a modification the keys may each comprise a manifold affording a pattern of passages connecting the selected outlets and ports leading to the inlets and/or exhaust; the non-selected inlets and outlets being blanked off by the manifold.
