Abstract
999,413. Arc-rupturing in switches. A. REYROLLE & CO. Ltd. March 10, 1964, No. 10108/64. Heading H2B. In an arc chute of the type comprising a battery of narrow arc extinguishing chambers 30 defined by spaced partitions 23 the chambers 30 are closed at their upper ends and are provided with exhaust vents 33 in their sides. The chute consists of a stack of plates alternately of the types 10, 11 shown in Figs. 4 and 6, respectively, each of which have a V-shaped cut-out 13 whose apices 18 are alternately placed on opposite sides of a central plane. The plates 10 have vent grooves 33 cut into them and a central part thinned and angled to form a partition 23 while the plates 11 have a similar central part but are formed with grooves 36, not communicating with the chambers 30, in which are inserted U-shaped magnetic inserts 38. The chute is completed by end blocks 40 having spaces 41 containing the usual arc runners (not shown). Specifications 927,312, 930,650 and 932,678 are referred to.
