Abstract

A sintered friction lining contains 5-47% by weight of boron carbide and preferably 15-40% Co, and/or 5-15% Cr and/or 2-15% Ni. The boron carbide powder size is 0.5-1 mm. and the powdered mixture is compacted and sintered at 1100-1150 DEG C. Other materials such as W, Fe, Mo, Sb, Sn, C, B and Si may also be added and several examples of different compositions are given.
