Abstract

A ductile chromium base alloy is made by admixing 1 to 40% uranium nitride powder, based on the weight of the alloy, to powdered chromium, the powders preferably passing 235 U.S. Standard mesh, pressing the mixed powders into shape, e.g. at 50 tons/sq. inch with 0.5% of camphor in methanol as binder, and sintering at 2000-2750 DEG F., e.g. at 2300 DEG F. for 2 hours in an inert atmosphere.
