Abstract

999,270. Drill jig; machine tool details. MIDLAND MACHINE TOOL CO. (BIRMINGHAM) Ltd. Nov. 13, 1963 [Dec. 21, 1962], No. 48403/62. Headings B3B and B3C. A pitch circle drill jig comprises a base 13, pillars 11, 12, a work-holder 14 indexable on the base, a guide bar 10 slidable on the pillars, a drill bush holder 24 slidable on the guide bar, and means for releasably clamping the holder to the bar, the latter being pivotable about pillar 11. Pillar 11 is longer than pillar 12 to allow pivoting of the bar 10, clamps 17, 19 are provided for locking the bar, and a bar stop 21 is clamped to pillar 11 at 22. Bush holder 24 is adjusted along bar 10 by rack-and-pinion means 28, the position being indicated by a vernier 35, 36. A bush 42 is held in holder 24 by a screw 37, and replaceable slip bushes 44 are provided and are held in bush 42 by means 51. The work is held in a chuck carried by a plate 57 indexable into twenty-four positions. The plate is locked in the indexed positions by three devices, each of which comprises a plunger 54, a lever 58 which operates a cam 59 to retract the plunger, and a spring 55 for urging the plunger into the apertures 56 in plate 57.
