[Also in Division A5] A method of making an ear-ring clip element comprises the steps of forming gripper means on the inner face of the clip element and moulding a resilient pad on the gripper means. The embodiment illustrated comprises a pair of moulds 20, 22 the lower mould being mounted on platen 52 and provided with a cavity 24 to receive an ear-ring clamp 26. A core 28 having a bubble forming portion 30 overlies the article 26. The process is controlled by means of an hydraulic circuit and a series of cams and plungers (Figs. 7 and 8, not shown). Commencing in the initial stripped position (Fig. 1) the article 26 is inserted manually into the lower mould cavity and the lower mould 20 is hydraulically slid to the aligned position. The lower platen 52 is elevated to bring the core into engaging relationship with the article against biasing means 64 and the upper mould into engagement with the core, and lower mould (Fig. 3). Plastics material is then injected into the mould cavity via nozzle 37 and after an interval of time the lower platen is retracted and the biasing means " float " the core. The lower mould is slid to the right from the aligned position and by means of a projection 55 the sliding motion of the core block 59 and the attached core is limited to permit stripping of the core from the moulded article. The ear-ring clamp is provided with raised gripper portions 44 partially severed from the clamp to provide adhering parts for the pad.
