Abstract

998,631. Plastic pipes. MARLEY TILE CO. Ltd. June 30, 1964 [July 4, 1963], No. 26580/63. Headings F2G and F2P. A thermoplastic soilpipe section comprises an extruded pipe-portion 3 to which is adhesively attached at one end an injection - moulded socket portion 2 having a seating 8 on its inner surface to receive an 0-ring 9 also two spaced external projections 7 and 11 to receive a clamp or pipe strap (not shown) between them, the other end 4 of the pipe portion constituting a spigot for insertion into the socket of a similar pipe section so as to make sealing engagement therewith, said end 4 having externally an embossed circumferential mark (Fig. 1, not shown), to indicate the extent to which the spigot may be inserted into the socket whilst making adequate allowance for expansion and contraction of the pipe section without breaking the seal. The recess of the seating 8 is formed by machining so as to provide sharp edges 10. The embossed line is 2¢ inches from the bevelled edge 5 of the section 4. To allow for movement the pipe-straps should be inch narrower than the distance between the projections 7 and 11.
