Abstract

An anti-corrosive composition comprises an organic surface coating medium (e.g. ethyl cellulose or acrylic resin) containing a chelating agent for copper, having the general formula <FORM:0998183/C3/1> where R=hydrogen or an alkyl group containing up to 5 carbon atoms (e.g. methyl) and R1= an aliphatic radical containing from 10 to 22 carbon atoms and which may contain one or more ethylenic double bonds (e.g. a mixture of aliphatic radicals present in the fatty acids of coconut oil). Pigments and extenders may be present. Solvents mentioned are carbon tetrachloride, chloroform, benzene, xylene, toluene and methyl ethyl ketone.
