Abstract

998,014. Thermographic materials. BEMB BRO BAG CO. April 8,1963 [April 17, 1962], No. 13820/63. Heading G2C. A heat-sensitive material comprises a sheet coated with a mixture of a zinc dithiocarbanate disulstituted with aryl or alkyl groups with 1 to 7 carbon atoms and a heavy metal salt of a fatty acid with at least 13 carbon atoms, the two components only reacting above the melting point of the zinc salt to give a colour change. Specified zinc salts are wherein the alkyl is methyl, ethyl, butyl or amyl and the aryl group is phenyl. Specified fatty acid salts are ferric, ferrous, copper and cobalt stearate. The salts may be coated directly on to the sheet or dispersed in a film-forming binder and then coated on to the sheet. The binder may contain a plasticizer or a filler such as litanium dioxide, antimony oxide, white lead, calcium carbonate or clay. The material is imagewise exposed to infra-red or to a heated stylus or stamp to give a coloured image.
