996,787. Aerials. HONDA GIJUTSU KENKYUJO KABUSHIKI KAISHA. Aug. 12, 1963 [Aug. 24, 1962 (2)], No. 31794/63. Heading H4A. [Also in Division B7] A combined radio aerial and sun visor pivotally mounted at 8A, Fig. 2, to brackets 8 on a vehicle windscreen frame 4 comprises a main plate 6 of electrically insulating material, e.g. synthetic resin or glass, and an electrically conductive plate 7 embedded in the plate 6 and constituting the aerial connected by a conductor 9 with a radio set. The effective height of the aerial is increased by the plate 7 acting as an effective capacity part of the aerial. If desired two such visors may be provided along the top of the windscreen and the plates 7 connected in series or in parallel. In the embodiment of Fig. 4 the visor 12 comprises a transparent glass plate 20 and a thin translucent metal layer 21. Narrow arms 22 are free from metal so that the supports 13 are insulated from the layer 21. The pivot supports 13 are resiliently mounted in bearing blocks 16. The layer 21 is formed conventionally, e.g. tin chloride may be sprayed on the glass.
