Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of formula <FORM:0996253/C2/1> wherein Ar2CH is a benzhydryl, ar-chlorobenzhydryl, 9-fluorenyl, 9,10-dihydro-9-anthryl, 9-xanthenyl, 9-thioxanthenyl or chloro-9-thioxanthenyl radical and Z is an alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, benzyl, ar-methylbenzene, ar-methoxybenzyl, ar-halobenzyl, benzhydryl or ar-chlorobenzhydryl radical, the alkyl groups in Z having up to 6 carbon atoms, non-toxic acid addition salts thereof, and their preparation by reacting the appropriate acid chloride or bromide with a 4 - substituted - 1 - amino - piperazine in an inert solvent, followed by hydrolysis of any esterified hydroxyalkyl group Z. The compounds of the invention have appetite-inhibiting, pepsin-inhibiting, anti-ulcer, diuretic, anti-algal and germination-inhibiting activity.
