Abstract

Walking mine roof prop support frames R 1 , R 2 , Fig. 1, are slidably coupled together by guide means e.g. inner, inner and outer rails P, Fig. 2, ensuring parallel forward motion with respect to each other and with respect to a double acting hydraulic ram K and cylinder Z therebetween; the ram being connected to a bracket H of the conveyer F and the cylinder Z being connectable optionally to either of frames R 1 R 2 or to both frames simultaneously. The guide rails P also support an arcuate slideway G on which the cylinder Z is both angularly and axially movable. As shown cylinder brackets 1 are coupled by pins 3 to one or other of the frames R 1 R 2 whereby said coupled frame is moved forwardly with the. cylinder on application of fluid pressure through a duct L<SP>1</SP>. Both frames may be so secured to the cylinder and one or other can be latched at 4, 5 to the conveyer end of the ram K. In a modification the cylinder Z, Fig: 3a is hinged to the conveyer F and the goaf end of the ram K is optionally coupled at 1<SP>1</SP> to frames R 1 R 2 which have arms 6 forming bearings 6<SP>1</SP> embracing at least in part the cylinder Z. In a further modification, Fig. 4a (not shown) frame R 1 is rigidly secured at both ends to the cylinder Z which is itself pivoted to the conveyer F whilst the goaf end of frame R 2 is rigidly secured to the ram K which the conveyer end carries an arm slidably embracing cylinder Z. Hydraulic pressure is supplied from a portable unit (not shown).
