[Also in Division B6] Continuous uniform rotary motion of a pinion 3, Figs. 1 and 2, produces cyclically variable rotary motion of a shaft 5. The pinion engages a gear-wheel 4 freely rotatable on the shaft. Pivoted to the wheel 4 at 7 is a segment lever 6 having teeth 8 engaging a gear-wheel 9 fixed to the shaft. Motion is conveyed from the wheel 4 to the wheel 9 through the teeth 8 so that the wheel 9 makes one revolution for each revolution of the wheel 4. The lever 7 carries a roller 10 which runs in a cam track 12 in a fixed plate 11, so that swinging of the lever relative to the wheel 4 causes cyclic variation in the speed of rotation of the wheel 9. In another form, Fig. 3, the lever is replaced by a control lever 13 which carries the cam roller 10 and is connected by a link 15 to a lever 14 fixed to the shaft 5. In another form, Fig. 5, the uniformly rotated wheel 16 rotates a ring gear 17 whose inner teeth rotate a planet wheel 19 mounted on a rocker arm 20, the wheel 19 rotating a wheel 21 to which is to be imparted the variable rotation. The wheel 16 also rotates a gear-wheel 18 connected to a cam plate 27 in a cam track in which there is guided a roller 26 mounted on a lever 23 pivoted at 24 to a fixed frame 25. The lever 23 is connected by a link 22 to the arm 20.
