Abstract

1414220 Rollers; toothed gearing LINDAUER DORNIER GmbH 4 Oct 1973 [28 Oct 1972] 46457/73 Headings F2U and F2Q In a device for imparting an oscillatory lateral motion to the lengthwise travel of a web, a roller 2 rotates upon a spindle 1 which is non- rotatable about its own axis, and rotation of the roller produces a precessional motion of one end of the roller. This latter motion is derived from planetary gearing, comprising an internal ring gear 12 of differing number of teeth but of the same pitch circle, together with a meshing pinion 14 carried by roller 2. Ring gear 12 forms part of a rotatable assembly in which a slot 11 accommodates a bearing stub shaft 6, clamped by nuts 10 at any desired setting of eccentric throw. Gear members 12, 13 and 14 may be exchanged to obtain different precession frequencies. The roller may be rotated by the web of material, e.g. textile, paper or film, or alternatively it may be separately driven.
