Abstract

1410390 Vat descaling apparatus J BARTHOD-MALAT 17 June 1973 29122/73 Heading B8T Vat descaling apparatus comprises a shaft 17 carrying nozzles 20a rotatable about its axis. The shaft 17 is mounted in a rotatable support hub 13 which is fast with a hollow driving shaft 5. Shaft 17 is driven by means of a gear mechanism having a planet pinion 26 engaging a stationary ring gear 9, the planet 26 being fast with a shaft 24 rotatably mounted in the support hub 13, orthogonally to shaft 17, and having a worm 23 engaging a worm wheel 22 carried on shaft 17. The number of teeth on the planet pinion 26 is incommensurable with that number on the ring gear 9 so that the nozzles 20a are in a different angular position after each revolution of the support hub 13. Descaling liquid is supplied from a supply duct 7 through the hollow driving shaft and bores 10a, 13b, 17a in the support hub 13 and shaft 17 to the nozzles 20a.
