Abstract

1,194,275. Selective printing. ELEKTRONISCHE RECHENMASCHINEN - WISSENSCHAFTLICHER INDUSTRIEBETRIEBKARL-MARX-STADT. 5 July, 1968, No. 32299/68. Heading B6F. A print hammer 11 is operated through epicyclic gearing comprising a ring gear 29 having twice the number of teeth of a planet gear 28 fixed to the hammer 11 so that the hammer face moves in a straight line. The hammer 11 and planet gear 28 are rotatably mounted in a block 26 which is rotated through an eccentric device which imposes a cyclic variation on the rotational speed of the block 26 to accelerate the hammer 11 at the point of impact. The eccentric device comprises a shaft 18 eccentric with respect to a shaft 20 fixed to the block 26 and a shaft 13 coaxial with the shaft 20, the shaft 18 being coupled to the shafts 13, 20 by pin-andslot crank connections 12, 14, 15, 16 and 17, 21, 22, 23. The eccentricity of the shaft 18 may be adjusted to vary the velocity of the hammer 11 at impact. The shaft 13 is driven by a shaft 7 through bevel gears 8, 9. The hammer mechanism is carried by a base-plate 1 supported by rails 4 for motion along a type carrier 34 by a worm spindle 6 and nut 5. Paper 33 is fed between the hammer 11 and type carrier 34 between guides 32.
