Abstract
Veterinary anthelmintic compositions comprise a compound of general formula <FORM:0993528/A5-A6/1> wherein R represents a C1-4 alkyl radical, R1 represents a hydrogen atom or a C1-4 alkyl radical and Y represents a C1-5 alkyl radical dissolved in a mixture consisting essentially of a paraffin oil (phosphoramidate detoxicant component) and a phosphoramidate-solvent component selected from:-(i) one or more terpenes, (ii) one or more edible unsaturated aliphatic acids, (iii) one or more terpenes and one or more edible unsaturated aliphatic acids; any of these optionally also comprising either or both of one or more rosin acids and one or more water-insoluble esters of a long chain fatty acid with a polyhydric alcohol. Optionally, there may also be present one or more known liver fluke eradicating agents, e.g. CCl4, C2Cl6, C2Cl4F2. Specified paraffin oils are medicinal grade paraffin oil and the material known as "Corvus" oil. Specified terpenes are cineol, pinene, phellandrene, dipentene, terpinolene, cymene, a -terpineol, eucalyptus oil, eucalyptus gum solvent, eucalyptus terpene aldehyde fraction, wood turpentine and pine oil. Specified unsaturated aliphatic acids are oleic, linoleic, ricinoleic and linolenic acids. Rosin acids mentioned are those isolated from wood rosin, e.g. abietic, sapinic, pimaric, dihydroabietic and dehydroabietic acids and specified water-insoluble esters are glycerylmonooleate, -monoricinoleate and -dioleate and sorbitan monooleate. Tall oil is also referred to as a component of the solvent component. The compositions are preferably used as a drench or may be administered in capsules or feed-mixes or applied esternally.
