Abstract

993,021. Washers; covers for nuts and bolts. NICHOLLS OF FARNHAM. Feb. 14, 1963 [Nov. 15, 1961; Feb. 8, 1962], Nos. 40941/61 and 4977/62. Heading F2H. A flexible washer, Fig. 1, for forming a seal against the corrugated surface of a roofing sheet, comprises a central boss 1 having an axial aperture therethrough and a generally conical flange 2 which is provided at the periphery with a knife edge section 3, the apex angle of said section being at least 15 degrees. The outer surface of the knife edge section lies at an angle of 30 degrees or less to the axis of the washer. A rib 9 of V-section and a rib 8 of semi-circular section are provided on the under side of the washer. A peripheral rib 12 is provided around the top of the central boss 12. A cover cap, Fig. 2, has a groove 24 adapted to engage with the rib 12 and the cap terminates in a readily deformable tapering edge 23. The closed end 21 of the cap is adapted to receive a nut or bolt head which may form part of the fixing means.
