A combined roof mounted air circulator and air exhauster comprises a vertically extending air stack 10, Fig. 1, a flange extending radially outwards from the upper edge of the stack and a dome 20 connected in vertically spaced relation with the flange by circumferentially spaced vertical standards 18, coated with yieldable material 21 and acting as guides for a freelymounted air damper and diffuser 22 of inverted conical shape. The damper which may may be of spun aluminium, plastic or other lightweight material, has a cupped portion 23 seating on a rubber or like sealing and vibration damping ring mounted upon a lip on the flange. Air is expelled from the stack by a motor-driven fan 14 but with the motor reversed the damper closes on its seat and the device becomes an air circulator. The dome and damper-diffuser may be formed of translucent plastic material so that the device can act as a skylight. A pressure relief opening may be provided in certain cases at the apex of the damper-diffuser. In a modification, Fig. 5, the damper-diffuser 36 has concentric upwardly directed grooves 38 to increase its rigidity and aid its lift and seats against an additional rubber or like ring 40 in its uppermost position. In another modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the flange is integral with a frusto-conical skirt 11 adapted to be secured to a roof 13. U.S.A. Specification 2,700,331 is referred to.
