A switchboard comprises a plurality of cubicles 28 containing electrical apparatus 14, 15 and arranged in a number of side-by-side colums 11-13 adjacent to each of which are arranged vertically and horizontally extending passageways accommodating the incoming and outgoing conductors or bus-bars. The structure is divided into two main sections by a partition 21. The rear section comprises a horizontal passage 17 accommodating the main incoming bus-bars 16 and a number of vertical passageways 19 each accommodating a set of subbus-bars 18 connected to 16. The forward section comprises the cubicles 28, a number of vertical passages 23 accommodating the outgoing conductors 26 and a horizontal passage 24 along which the outgoing conductors pass to conduits 25. In a modification (Fig. 7) the vertical bus-bars 318 are spaced laterally in relatively wider passages 319 and the vertical passages 23 are subdivided to provide accommodation 323a for the outgoing conductors as before and also accommodation 323b for conductors 344 leading to low power devices such as meters, indicator lamps &c. mounted on the front panels between the cubicles. Connector units for the outgoing conductors 26 may be located in the passage 24 (Fig. 8, not shown).
