Abstract

A composition comprises a crystalline olefin polymer or copolymer and from 0.01 to 5% by weight of at least one basic aluminium salt of (a) a di- and/or polycarboxylic acid and/or (b) a monocarboxylic acid containing a ring structure which salts have been prepared by reacting in an aqueous medium (1) an aluminium salt readily soluble in water, (2) an equivalent or less than equivalent amount of a water-soluble salt of the said carboxylic acids, and (3) an alkaline reacting material readily soluble in water. The compounds (1), (2) and (3) are preferably reacted in the presence of an aqueous suspension of the polymer. The composition is preferably made by mixing the components, heating to a temperature above the melting-point of the polymer, then cooling.
