Abstract

992,447. Valves. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Nov. 1, 1963, No. 43288/63. Heading F2V. A mixing valve comprises two inlet passages 6, 7 leading to chambers 16, 17 and an outlet passage 8. Two diaphragm valves 14, 15 control the flow from chambers 16, 17 to the outlet passage and each diaphragm has a bleed hole 22, 23 connecting the chambers 16, 17 to chambers 18, 19 on the opposite side of the diaphragms. The chambers 18, 19 are connected through ports 24, 28 to cavities 25, 29 which have outlet passages 27, 31 controlled by pilot valves 32, 33. Each pilot valve 32, 33 is loaded by a leaf spring 34 in a cantilever fashion to the closed position and is opened by a solenoid 39, 40 to release pressure in the chambers 18, 19 causing the pressure in chamber 16, 17 to open the diaphragm valves. The pilot valve seats are preferably washers 26, 30 which with the diaphragms constitute the sealing between the housing parts.
